Stretch for a leg split in ballet by warming up the hamstrings and hips with all of the plies, and do a hamstring stretch starting with the knees on the floor and moving in to a split stretch. Stretch the hamstring forward and keep the hips warm and open for the splits with help from an experienced dance instructor in this free video ballet lesson. @ThatGiirlMikayla you will be able to learn again, cause 2 of the best ballet dancers began at 13 and 17!!

@xdEaDbLoOdx: I started last year when I was 15…i thought the same thing but it’s really not bad at all.

Stretching over and touching your toes does hurt at first. It hurts the back of your legs! Some kids in cheering lessons taught me how to. I want to start ballet again, but I’m almost 16. I’d probably look ridiculous or I wouldn’t be able to learn.

Actually my gym teacher said that everyone is capable of doing splits this way. It is a flexibility thing. She said if you stretch your legs out everyday that you’ll eventually be able to do it. Not everyone can do the splits putting your legs out to the side though…that has to do with your hips

im currently in a dance team..i used to have a pretty good left split but i pulled a muscle..what can i do to make the healing faster??

  16. RockerCHICK167 says:

Your back knee could point out if you’re doing a split with your legs turned out. But it’s best to keep your hips square when you’re doing a split like this.

  17. lollaugher1 says:

i tried this a bunch of times and i cant do itt! is it because my knees pop in the back?

  18. O3Opanda says:

Eventually, I believe you could get pretty close, if not all the way down. Just work on it a bit every day. :)

I’m trying to achieve the splits for my kick boxing. I have poor flexability in my abductors and hamstrings. I’m a guy and as I understand we have a much harder time stretching due to muscle mass, but if i do this everyday will I be able to achieve the splits?

  20. jenni781 says:
