Try doing some plies at home [bending ur kness] to really stretch out ur inner thighs. Tondues [point ur toes] are good too for ur tendons and foot. My teachers have told me to put my leg on the kitchen counter to increase flexibility and to have a higher extension. The first time back is gonna be tough but it takes some time to get used to it. Just try to be more active before u go and hit the gym so ur muscles wont be so sore. good luck =]

I’d start of by strengthening your calf muscles and do a whole heap of rises with your feet parallel and in First position.

I have been dancing for 12 years, but I took last summer off(instead of going to a summer intensive) to get back in shape, the best thing to do is to GRADUALLY try and do your splits again…once you get back into doing splits on both sides and a decent straddle, you will be flexible again and can begin working on getting those good arches for your feet! Oh one more thing…if you are lacking in the turn out area, doing grande plies in second is a good thing to practice, plie and press your knees back with your hands(you need to be able to balance for this :D ) you may not be in the best shape right now to quickly get back into it so DON’T JUMP RIGHT IN. I had a friend who did that and she had to quit because she popped her knee cap(yes I know, tragic)

    Hope this Helps!
